Washington D.C. Birthday Celebration

My 35th Birthday Celebration
Washington D.C.

All present:
Gibson family (also known as Godmother Sara plus two)
Morehead family with special guest, Godmother Kathleen

On the way to D.C., we had Kathleen stand beside the Sassafras, Maryland sign. I can't really remember what stories she told or exactly how or who she tried to trick with this name in college... but I do know it had something to do with her middle name and it not being SUZANNE (oops! spilled the beans!) but Sassafras.

We did in fact tour the White House before lunch but since you are not allowed to take photos and blah blah blah... Sorry! No record of me doing cartwheels in the Red Room (Emma's Favorite and George Dubya's too, so let's hope E's political affiliations don't follow THAT way as well!)

The Lovely Ladies at lunch at the Good Stuff Eatery on Capitol Hill!
Loved it and absolutely could not get enough of the Toasted Marshmallow Shake!
(Happy Birthday to me!)

Godmother Sara and Luke in a serious conversation... probably debating the merits of which is more fun at recess - running around mindlessly or playing basketball? Or maybe they are discussing the latest doings of the Republican Party Cronies... is that why her face is saying, "EWWW"? Actually, I will only be too proud if Lukie can hold his own in a debate with his Godmother someday...

After lunch, we headed to the Library of Congress! (Most impressive! Highlight of the day!) Above, we have the aptly titled photo, GODMOTHER SANDWICH PHOTO.

Awww, look at the gang!

A photo op outside the Capitol before we said good-bye to the Gibsons!

SMC Chics below... Grad Class of 1998 and 2027 and finally, 2031 (??).

Wow!!!

The final fun for the day was a tour of the Capitol. We were not totally impressed.
We joked and called it the "Basement Tour".

The kids were troopers and we all had a great day!
We are so lucky that (I know I've said this before) that there is so much for us to experience out here!!
We looked forward to spending the rest of the weekend with Kathleen!
